BOTTEGA VENETA WRAPS THE 11TH STREET DINER IN GOLD

Back in 1992 I persuaded my then girl friend, Cindy Bosco (now wife) to move to South Beach. We moved in to the Del Rio on 11th and Collins and opposite us was a 1950’s diner that looked like it came straight from the set of ‘Back to the Future.’ The place wasn’t open yet but Cindy waltzed over there and introduced herself to owner, Ray Schnitzer. Next thing Cindy is managing the place and BAM! Hurricane Andrew slams into South Florida with a telling blow….but the Diner survived and was soon serving real American fare to all kinds of folks who had escaped the center of Andrew’s wrath and come north to find shelter.

Ray and Cindy went on to open Michael Caine’s restaurant on Lincoln Road: The South Beach Brasserie. Fast forward 27 years and I get a call from my new client Bottega Veneta asking if I’m available to do a shoot during Art Basel? Turns out that they wanted me to shoot the Diner! Wrapped in gold and topped off with a neon Bottega sign they pulled it off with aplomb! You can read more about this story in designboom here.

40 X 62 C-PRINT IN PLEXI EDITION 1/10

Rosetta Scarf began her journey with me back in 2011 when we bumped into each other at 1111 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. You can see the short film of her evolution made by film maker Danny Rosenburg here and if you want to get to know her even better read the story here.

She has been quiet of late but she tells me she may be coming out of her cocoon in 2020.
